Ethic Code for Editor
Publication decisions:
- The editors are solely responsible for approving and/or disapproving the publication of scholarly article or journals. He should ensure that the decision is transparent and same is communicated to author. The factors affecting decision may be as below:
- Importance of subject of paper being published in terms of research and research society
- Legal requirements like libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
- Content of articles hurting the sentiments of any religion, ethnicity or may disrupt the law and order situation.
- Decision to approve or disapprove the publication will be independent of:
- Race
- Gender
- Sexual orientation
- Religious belief
- Ethnic origin
- Citizenship
- Political philosophy of the authors
Use of unethical means to improve visibility of Journals.
- The editor must not attempt to influence the journal’s ranking by artificial means. In particular, the editor should not require that references to the journal’s articles be included except for genuine scholarly reasons and authors should not be required to include references to the editor’s own articles or products and services in which the editor has an interest.
Confidentiality
- The editor will protect the confidentiality of all material submitted to the journal and all communications. In exceptional circumstances and in consultation with the publisher, the editor may share limited information with editors of other journals where deemed necessary to investigate suspected research misconduct.
- Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript will not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review shall be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
Conflict of interest:
- The editor should declare any potential conflicts of interest. They should not take any decision on the journals in following cases
- Paper written by their family members.
- Paper written by their colleagues or person related to them in their personal or professional life.
Preventing Misconduct
- Editors should work in safe guarding the published or unpublished records, journals or articles. They should do same by assessing the reported or suspected misconduct in conjunction with the publisher.
- Editor will be able to prevent misconduct by bringing it to the notice of publisher. Coordinating with author and their institute and brining the same to their notice. If the complaint or finding is found to be true, either appropriate correction is made or research paper or article or journal is unpublished with the help of publisher.
